Designing with Plants

This talk looks at the ways to achieve your dream garden using plant colour, texture, shape and garden style and covers using plants to:

The talk begins with a review of different garden styles, covering formal and informal styles, a modern contemporary look and feel or a ‘themed garden’ for example being ‘wildlife friendly’.

It then consider the ways to select the ‘right plants’ for your garden based on an evaluation of soil type, amounts of light and shade, choosing plants to help solve specific problems such as an overlooked space, your personal preferences including colours and the attributes of the individual plants.

The theory of the principles of planting are then reviewed which looks at how to create traditional borders, island beds and year round seasonal interest.

To help inspire a redesign of a garden or specific area using plants, the talk finishes with a photographic case study of a planting design for a customer in Wiltshire.  This talk is about 50 minutes long plus time for questions and discussion.
