An Introduction to Garden Design

This talk explores some of the considerations needed when deciding to design, or re-design a whole garden or specific areas and covers:

This talk starts off looking at the principles of garden design using photographs of example gardens including garden style, materials, focal points and reviews how to balance scale and proportion in the garden.

The ways to evaluate a garden are then considered in regards to understanding the garden conditions such as soil, drainage, views from and into the garden and the size of the garden space.  Along with your likes and dislikes, in regards to garden styles and plant preferences, this will help to determine the garden features and plants which will be suitable for your ‘design goal’.

This talk ends with a customer case study which takes us through the entire end to end steps needed to design a garden.  The talk lasts between 50 – 60 minutes depending on the amount of questions asked and is a frequently booked talk for gardening groups and societies.
