The Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Warminster was looking to transform an overgrown lawned area into a safe and relaxing space which could be used for treatments during the summer months.

Problems which needed to be addressed were to increase privacy, as the garden area could be seen from the main road, include a path suitable for wheel chair users and visitors with mobility problems.

The design included raised trellis work to support evergreen climbers to create a natural screen from the road, wheelchair friendly planters to enable everyone to be able to garden. a private covered seating pergola area and attractive planting to create a garden that could be enjoyed all year round.

The garden also includes a water feature which was created jointly with The Avenue School, Warminster where the students designed and created Mosaic panels featuring ‘watery’ themes.  Interestingly the water feature also doubles up as a picnic table, particularly for those in wheelchairs !

The garden was created from the Summer of 2014 and opened in 2015 and now looks as though it has always been there.  Centre manager, Rosie Eliot describes it as follows:

“The therapy garden that Marion designed for our members has proved to be a wonderful and welcoming addition to the Centre.  Our wheelchair users have made much more use of the garden than we anticipated due to the wheelchair height furniture that Marion had in mind and helped design. The garden provides us with a beautiful and safe environment for our members and we are full of praise for Marion and our magnificent garden on a daily basis.”
