Wicked Plants – Do you know what’s growing in Your garden ?
This talk reveals a number of ‘wicked plants’ in our gardens and includes;
- A look at some commonly known offenders !
- Some beautiful plants with a wicked hidden secret !
- Poisonous plants which could help our health and in our old age !
- Misused plants which generated trade and have inspired poetry !
- Some specimens which can really challenge our sense of smell !
This talk explores some of the plants which we regularly grow in our gardens which may be the culprits who can kill, intoxicate, irritate or otherwise offend. We take a look at some of the well known culprits, then look at some lesser known plants with a hidden secret. Plants which have had an impact on history through misuse are also explored, as are a few plants that have some of us running for the smelling salts !
We end on reviewing a few of the ‘bad guys’ which have now made a positive impact on medical science. The talk lasts between 50 – 60 minutes depending on the amount of questions asked and is a frequently booked talk for gardening groups and societies.
